The day had come. On Tuesday 27, we went to get our first shot of Covid vaccine. We weren’t sure they would let us take it as we are international students not staying very long in the country. But when came our turn, we had absolutely no trouble at all getting it. Nevertheless, the waiting line was so long. I had the time to go to the Central Bus station with R🇪🇸 and R🇫🇷 to get the "Rav Kav" bus card. We had to take the tramway to get there, the waiting was this long.
Back at the vaccination center, some Korean journalists asked to interview us. They asked questions about how internationals could get vaccinated in Jerusalem, so we provided them our very limited knowledge on the matter. When we asked if the interview was going to be published somewhere, it was like Trump words came out of the South Korean mouth telling us that it would indeed be published in "the biggest South Korean newspaper". LOL
Anyway, in the vaccination room, it felt like the French were in charge of the administrative work (showing passport, giving a phone number, …) as it took a while. After all, we were in a French Hospital (Saint Louis). But there was compensation, as the vaccination was clearly Israeli. The actual vaccination lasted a good 4 seconds. I remember taking my mom to get vaccinated in France a few weeks ago. There was a lot of chatting with nurses about the vaccine itself, the possible negative effects, there was a doctor making sure everything was alright and after the shot, vaccinated people had to wait 30 minutes before leaving the center. Let’s hope that when Europe will receive more vaccines, they will be as efficient as the Israelis. (Pause for laugh) But there we are, more than a year after the beginning of the pandemic and the consequential lockdowns, I was finally getting my first vaccine shot.
To (sort of) celebrate this, R🇫🇷, M🇺🇸 and I went to have lunch in Jaffa Street. It was really nice as the food was tasty, the weather was warm and I was with two very interesting people which I got to know better. One slight issue during this lunch. The odds were really not in my favor but a bird managed to take a shit between the two parasols I was sitting under and naturally it landed on my ear and on my « white » shirt. That was some no luck. No need to say that my shirt wasn’t white anymore after this.
Tuesday 27th of April, the day I got shot and shit.
